Hi I am reading about all the different joint types and when to use them. I am building a frame out of 2x2 lumber, joined at 90% most of the time, that will be under a lot of stress. I figured out that mortise and tenon seems to be the strongest joint I can make. Sadly it seems way to time consuming to do it for all parts of the frame.
I got it down to screwed and glued butt joints vs glued dowels.
I really like the idea about the dowels as they will help me to get the angles right without the need for rigorous clamping.
However I am concerned that the dowels will loosen over time caused by the moving frame.
On the other hand screwed+glued butt joint seem to be strong and should hold over time.
What are your ideas about this?
