Can resistance to rot be improved with home heating?
@Graphus I'm replacing the seating on a small bistro chair, so the planks are small :-) 35 cm length. But will the last longer outside if 'baked'? Could it catch fire?

Stabilizing wobbly hardwood table
Thanks jdv, how large should the mending plates be? I found some that are 40x60x60mm (1.6x2.4x2.4 inch) which would fit nicely under the table but i'm not sure these are large enough.

@Graphus i got screws that say 'hardwood screws' and supposedly have a special drill head and some lubricant. My previous woodworking experience is limited to smaller projects and soft pine wood. I take it i cannot just wing it to make it level? Screw 2 legs, then adjust the other two?

@Thanks Graphus, this is good to know because i'm willing to try to fix it with screws and plates myself (now) but i would definitely bring in a professional to fix it with wooden pins (at some point).

@jdv is tehre any reason why mending the table with just wood is a better and more long-lived solution to mending it with metal and screws?

Thank you @jdv. We do not live in a humid place but that table has been with us for at least 10 years, and it took some bumps carrying it up 4 flights of stairs. And it was 2nd hand when we got it.
