A wood product that is made with many thin layers of wood. The layers are generally laminated in alternating grain directions (each at 90° to the next) to improve dimensional stability and reduce warping. The number of plies is from 3 upwards, and always an uneven number.

Plywood can range in quality from low cost sheathing materials (often made from a range of softwoods) to high-quality void-free veneered plywood made from hardwood throughout. It can even include specially made shaped plywood.
