Questions regarding the technique of measuring or tools that measure specific things, including both dimensions and angles, as well as moisture content.

While working with any raw material it is almost always paramount to be able to exactly measure your stock. While most of the time measuring is pretty straight forward, it can get quite tricky when it isn't.

In woodworking there are also funny sounding words and terms for specific measurements that do not make immediate sense to laymen. e.g.: Board Foot - which is covered in a question already, or the English word 'thou' (thousandths of an inch).

Whereas the techniques of measuring are universally applicable, measurements are not. As this is an international platform please make it a habit of giving rough estimations for your less-preferred system (yes, the old metric vs imperial thing again ;))
